WHAT COAT OF TOP COAT DO I USE BEFORE DETAILING MY GUNDAM MODEL?

I do not devise upon portrayal most models, though when i mist upon a prosaic cloak after detailing a indication with gundam markers a lines “bleed”.

I review which if i initial cloak with gloss, afterwards detail, afterwards prosaic cloak a gundam indication it will stop this.

Is this true? Can someone indicate a improved way?

Part of the problem is the interaction between marker and top-coat. Certain paints don’t react well with each other.

I’m not as familiar with Gundam or other asian-market products as I’d like… but I THINK Gundam markers are alcohol based, so the lacquer-based gloss coat will make it bleed; especially if you apply a single heavy coat.

I use mostly Testors enamels, I then do my panel-lines with india-ink, spray on gloss-coat before applying decals, and then coat with Testors flat-coat.

Sorry to hear you don’t plan on building/painting many models… one technique I’ve heard of is using Future floor-polish (an acrylic) sprayed from an airbrush as a gloss-coat. Models I’ve seen using this look great !! I only use Future to coat windows and windscreens.

Another technique I’ve used is to paint a darker base-coat, and then use a panel-scribe too (or broken #11 Xacto blade) to scribe out the light paint from the panel-line.

I’ve ALSO used (mostly on Navy Aircraft)… a .05mm mechanical pencil to drawl in the panel lines. I’ve NEVER had that bleed.

GOOD LUCK !! and Thanks for asking !!
